The Susan Hensel Gallery is devoted to
the narrative impulse in art with a mission to:

Communicate stories using all the senses and any media, transforming the personal into universal or political.

Change reader/observers into active particpants in the art experience.

Share ideas and stories by creating opportunities for public interaction.

Susan Hensel Gallery functions on the three interrelated principles of
Art, Story, & Activism.

Art • We show collection-caliber art in a friendly South Minneapolis location. Challenging content. Accessible presentation. Thoughtful. Political. Personal.

Story • Susan Hensel Gallery provides opportunities to experience the implicit or explicit stories embedded in art, and is committed to showing artists that address contemporary issues affecting the community.

Activism • Susan Hensel Gallery does not shy away from challenging subject matter: war vs. peace, politics, religious diversity, queer. This is art for the discerning collector, who is bold enough to put their opinions on their walls, yet accessible enough for the first-time gallery-goer to enjoy.
