The Surface Design Association

The Surface Design Association mission since 1977 is to promote awareness and appreciation of textile-inspired art and design through member-supported benefits including publications, exhibitions, and conferences. SDA provides a platform for the exchange of ideas, methods, and materials. The SDA community is expansive: from makers and artists to academics and enthusiasts. Susan Hensel has been a member of the SDA for several years. Additionally, she is a member of the Textile Society of America, the Weavers Guild of Minnesota and theTextile Center of Minnesota.

Surface Design Journal

The Surface Design Journal is a quarterly print publication bringing the latest from the world of contemporary fiber arts and surface design. The Surface Design Journal explores the latest trends and applications, introducing you to new ideas and artists while celebrating traditional techniques, to inspire you in the studio and beyond.
