The Ballad of Blue Guy Is Coming To An End

2023-06-08T00:56:48-04:00News, Art|

Blue Guy mysteriously came to live at the gallery in February, just before the "Big Snow."  He arrived one morning, blocking the front door to the gallery.  Actually, he looked like he was trying to peer in...or take the mail from the slot! Check out the latest from Susan Hensel Gallery. I moved him over to the un-used side entrance, where he stood for a few days.   But now the time has come to say farewell. He lost his head in the rains yesterday. Someone kindly propped him up again, hanging his near useless arms over the fence. He will move to his final resting place April 11, in time for his kind city transportation to the landfill. I invite you to pay your last respects! I think we all gave him a lovely last few months. About Susan Hensel Gallery Opened September 10th, 2004 Susan Hensel Gallery was a gallery/ workspace presenting 5-6 shows per year devoted to the concept of narrative in the arts in an intimate space, with hardwood floors and high tin ceilings. Peace Fibres- stitching a soulful world

2023-06-08T00:58:26-04:00News, Artists, Art|

Peace Fibres- stitching a soulful world Serendipity has been such a strong feature of my life. When one is able to cultivate to attitude of welcome, of "yes", one can see the connections and the offerings that the world has to give. Today was another opportunity of "yes." While working diligently on number crunching and financial projections ( yuck!), I received a phone call from a Minnesota author wishing to see the current exhibition. While Libbie Soffer was here, I attended Shepherd's Harvest and she went to the Textile Center and we both met Karen Lohn, the author of Peace Fibres. Karen and her friend Katie, a contributor to the book, spent time among Libbie's textile stories. A thoroughly delightful respite from numbers! WAR GAMES by Kari Gunter-Seymoor In the Christian calendar Advent is a season of watchful waiting. For military families in wartime, it is always Advent.
